Cupcake Spinner Card

Cupcake Spinner Card

Cupcake Spinner Card – front

Jan has combined the Reindeer Spinner Card and the cupcake from the Cupcake Center Panel Card to… create this fun cupcake spinner card with an added bonus:  the candle lights up!

Your recipient will love the “extra” in this cupcake spinner card!

Cupcake Spinner Card – with light on

Circuit

Building the circuit requires a couple of extra cuts.  You’ll find some basic guidelines for creating the circuit and needed cuts to complete your cupcake spinner card here. Eiko also has a link to a YouTube Video for additional details and specifics to make the spinner using the conductive thread.

Cupcake Spinner Card – circuit

Once the circuit is ready and the cupcake pieces added to the spinner, add the pull tab to the slider switch. Pull the tab to make sure the switch will still slide and complete the circuit.

Assemble the card.

Once you’ve completed the circuit and added your pull tab, assemble the layers: Card base > circuit > patterned paper card front.  Use foam tape between the card front and the circuit layer.  Open the card just enough and spin the cupcake to prepare it for the recipient.  You’ll need a larger envelope to allow for the extra dimension of the card – and it may cost you a little more to mail.

This card can also be made without the light or circuit – using just the spinner.  Just follow the directions in the video found here for the Reindeer Spinner Card and if you need additional help with assembling the cupcake, you’ll find those directions here

We hope this card inspires you to create a Cupcake Spinner Card of your own for an upcoming special occasion or just because.

Celebrate Father’s Day!

Celebrate Father’s Day with Simply Crafty SVGs

It’s not hard to find the perfect gifting solutions for Father’s Day (or any day, for that matter) with files from Simply Crafty SVGs.  Jan has selected 3 files and added some additional details to make each one a little unique.  The Tool Caddy, Tie Gift Box and the Dad Easel Card all work well with each other when you use a fun digital paper collection such as, Gentlemen Folk, from NitWit Collections.  Let’s take a little closer look at how you can add that special touch.

Tool Caddy

Tool Caddy – add a coupon book using some print and cut images and add your coupon details on the back. Fill the caddy with a favorite treat and add a fun word strip to the front details of the caddy.

Tie Gift Box

The Tie Gift Box is the perfect size for a tie or some dress socks.  Add a belly band, word strip AND a tie clip to finish it off.

Dad Easel Card

And the Dad Easel card is a fun and easy to cut file.  Jan added an extra layer of lettering with no changes to sizes, just off-setting them slightly for that layered look.  Add another word strip from the graphic file and you’ve got the perfect card for that someone special on Father’s Day.

We’d love to see your makes using our files – so be sure to share on the Simply Crafty SVGs Creator’s page on FB.

Antique Stationery Box – How to Make this Vintage Gift Box

Antique Stationery Box – How to Make this Vintage Gift Box

Spring has brought out the need to have a few extra gifts on hand and something to hold them in.  How about this Antique Stationery Box for a beautiful vintage gift giving option this Spring?  There are lots of boxes to choose from in the shop – and choosing just a couple of boxes from the list (319+ choices) make the challenge even more daunting at times. However, the FlipTop Box was a perfect choice for this project by Jan! The paper is from an old stack (Haberdashery by Paper Studio).  It adds to the finished vintage look for this stationery box. You’ll need three 12 x 12 sheets with the same design (patterned on one side and plain on the other), to construct this box.

Let’s peek at the finished box

Antique Stationery Box

Cut the box using the wrong side of the paper (the plain side) as the outside of the box.  Cut the panels.   Assembly is a breeze even for beginners.  As always, there’s a great assembly video available here.

Fill the inside with a stack of notecards decorating using a vintage floral image, wrapped in ribbon and tied with a bow.  Don’t forget to include a special pen to go with those notecards!  Jan chose to use one of the vintage fountain pens used by her father and packaged it in the Glitter Pen box, cut in a cream colored cardstock. Perfect additions to the Antique Stationery box using the fliptop box file.

Once your box is filled with those special treasures, use some satin or organza ribbon, tie in a bow and add a small tag if desired to finish off this beautiful vintage looking box.

Tiered Tray Layered Valentine Love Truck

Tiered Tray Layered Valentine Love Truck

Check out this adaptation of the Love Truck Box Card. From box card to a layered version, the truck is perfect for your Valentine tiered tray decor.

Changing it up is easy and the sizing is perfect for the larger trays. Using a smaller tray? Just resize the file to an A2 size card before making any additional changes.

Remove the side tabs on the file pieces that have them, use foam tape for layers and the dimension will be similar to that of the box card.  All edges have been inked and some dimensional glaze was used on the side mirrors and taillights.  Don’t forget that the cutting file offers a blank banner that you can personalize using a sentiment of your choosing.  Jan used the Foil Quill (standard tip) and black foil to draw the lettering.  (TIP:  Do not remove the mat from the cutting machine after foiling.  Remove the foil and then proceed to your cutting machine’s settings for cutting.)

Add some Wink of Stella and some Dimensional Glaze for a little extra pizzazz. This one’s a keeper!

The Tent Camping Box can either be made to use as a luminary or as a gift box, with 2 different bases.

The Tent Trailer Box is a favorite amongst those with Tent trailers and pop-up trailers.

Below are a few others made from talented designers. The first Tent Trailer is shown with the Christmas Tree Delivery card from our Christmas Box Card Set.  This was created by designer Susan Manion. The Truck Box card comes with a Christmas tree insert, but she cleverly modified the design to include a bicycle in the back of the truck. Check out more photos of Jana’s Tent Trailer here.

This Vintage Camper is can be a box or used as a luminary.

And here is our Vardo design for those that love the Gypsy Wagon look. At the time I designed this, my spouse was building a Vardo. It was a fun design to create and one of my favorites. Below are a few created by talented designers Annie and Helle, Springtime Vardo by Annie and Gypsy Wagon by Helle.

Here is one more camper trailer, the Teardrop Trailer. As with any of the trailers, you can make them for a holiday too. Here is my Halloween version and Summer teardrop as designed by Helle.

Ice Cooler Birthday Card with Soda Cans

Ice Cooler Birthday Card with Soda Cans

When I designed the Ice Cooler Cards, I could not decide what type of cooler to design. Consequently, I designed two different cards, making sure they were interchangeable. For this Ice Cooler Birthday card, I took the can inserts from Ice Cooler with Cans Card and used them in the card base from the Ice Cooler with Bottles Card.

Ice Cooler Birthday Card

Here are the original card SVG files that I used to make the Ice Cooler Birthday Card with the soda cans.

I used print and cut using my Cricut Maker to make the Coke and Mountain Dew cans. A coat of Ranger’s Glossy Accents added on the cans give them a bit of a shine. I used the old school cooler look from the Ice Cooler with Bottles Card and the can card inserts from the Ice Cooler with Cans Card. You could even have a mixture of bottles and cans!

Here is a closeup of the cans amongst the “ice”.

And the card flattens to fit into a standard A7 envelope.
