After I cutout the first version of the FREE Slanted Gift Box SVG Design, it kind of looked like a tool box. I thought…I bet I could all a handle on the top and it would look like it. Sure enough. This is why I made this version and I wanted an excuse to use this Tim Holtz Idea-ology license plate paper.
I added the panels before I assembled the box.
I used my piercing tool to poke holds for my twine. I tied a not inside on each end to hold it. This twine is more rigid. I love it and have a few rolls of it from Ikea. I never saw it again, but it was a holiday item. I also added a large Fastenater staple to the front of the lid opening. If you have been around awhile, the Fastenator was a thick scrapbooking staple with stapler manufactured by EK Success. It has been discontinued. I still have a lot in my craft supplies though.
That was it! It will make a great gift box for one of the guys in my life. I hope you enjoy the free file!
For the latest free SVG, I created a simple Thank you card. Honestly, i was playing around with a design technique and decided to turn my learning adventure into a freebie for you all! Here it is…the FREE Scallop Thanks Card SVG File. File includes an envelope to fit the card. To make the card more versatile, I also included a blank panel in addition to the Thanks panel.
NOTE: This design contains intricate cuts, so make sure you pick appropriate paper. Fibrous or really thick paper will not cut well. Each machine handles cuts differently.
This tealight is easy to assemble. Assembly instructions are included within the ZIP download. Here is an overview of the process.
After cutting out the files, piece together optional vellum inserts. You can make the box without the inserts. Use vellum or translucent paper, for best results.
Score and fold the box. Glue the vellum inserts to the inside of the box and glue on star and firecracker pieces.
Add glue/adhesive to the side tab and glue to the inside of the opposite side of the box. Fold over the side flaps and close bottom of the box, tab in. No glue is required on the bottom of the box, as I wanted to make sure this box could be stored easily. To store, simply open the bottom tab and flaps and fold flat!
It just looks cool when the light flickers! Here is what a few of mine looked like!

Here, I made one with our Simply Crafty SVGs logo to hold my business cards, when open. It will only hold standard business cards at an angle.
As you can see, the lid flips up to reveal the inside of the box. There is a pocket on either side to hold all the crafting essentials, like scissors, glue, vinyl and paper! Included are the following layered SVG printables for machines capable of print and cut. Similar embellishments are included for cutting only. NOTE: Printable vinyl rolls are different than cuttable vinyl rolls.
You can easily change the color of the papers by using your die cuttng software for a completely different look. I used pastel papers for this version, as well as pink scissors!
The embellishments shown are not included in the file. Use for a holiday or birthday party. Just add your own embellishments, twine, ribbon, rhinestones, or really anything you like to personalize it for your needs!
